Palm Sunday Procession, from St Luke’s to the Barn Church

Join us for our Benefice’s Palm Sunday Eucharist, which includes a procession with Palms.

Please note, this service starts at St Luke’s Church, and the procession will walk to the Barn Church.
If you would prefer not to walk for any reason, it will be possible to drive between the churches or simply to join us at the Barn Church as you prefer.

Lent Bible Study

Lent Bible Study

Benefice Lent Bible Study: Meeting God in Mark
Hosted at St Luke‘s on Thursdays, 10-11am, weekly from 15 February – 28 March.
In this year’s Lent Bible Study we’re going to be using Rowan Williams’ little Lent Book, Meeting God in Mark. Mark is the gospel that the Church of England’s lectionary focuses on this year, so it’s a great opportunity to read the whole of the (shortest) gospel and explore it in more depth with the help of the insight of Bishop Rowan.  We’ll be following the daily reading plan and Sunday reflections that the book includes, and those hosting the sessions will draw on the lectures in the book in facilitating discussions. You don’t have to buy the book as we will provide some material from it to cover the course, but if you do, you can find it in a lot of bookshops for around £10.99. You’ll be able to get the Reading Plan and Reflections as a pdf from the Parish Office.

Benefice Advent Bible Study (followed by Communion and Christmas Lunch)

Join us this Advent to explore the ways our Carols shape our faith.

During these studies, the congregations of St Luke’s and St Philip’s (The Barn Church) come together to explore the Christianity and the Bible. This year we will be reflecting upon some of our favourite carols and the ways in which they form our understandings of Advent and Christmas.

The Study will be hosted at St Luke’s Church on Thursday mornings

  • 10-11am on Thursday 30 November, 7 December, 14 December
  • 11am-12 noon on Thursday 21 December, followed by Eucharist and a shared lunch*

The Study Guide will be available for collection at the service on Sunday 26 November and as a digital version from the office. You’ll find it helpful to have both versions in order to access better quality pictures for the study.

*Lunch (two courses and wine) will cost £20 but if this would be a barrier for you and you would like to come, please speak to one of the clergy or wardens. Please reserve your spot at lunch in advance by emailing the office.
